GREETINGS DU JOUR FROM YOUR FRIENDS AND FANS!
Hard to believe it's been more than ten years now since Women
of Achievement started coming off local bulletin boards and services such
as Prodigy and Delphi. So to start, a birthday message
from Jennifer Gagliardi, the first listserve administrator of abigails-l,
in ascii art for old times' sake... and from the rest of us:
Dear Irene,
You are appreciated more than
simple words could ever convey. Thank you for your loving care to preserve
the HERstory of beautiful women throughout space and time.
Happy Birthday from Seattle!

You are making the world
a better place
by bringing together
women from around the world to share ideas, learn and take action. We
can agree or disagree with you and the other fabulous women who post to
the list and you provide us with a safe, respectful and vibrant space in
which we can do that. You make a difference to the world, a difference
that matters.
A special
Happy Birthday Wish

Special Woman
Whose endless efforts have
provided motivation and information to so many of us.

Happy,
Happy 75th Birthday, Irene!!
What an incredible journey it must
have been so far -- and who knows where your journey will take you next!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your amazing insights, outrage,
suggestions, perspective and wisdom you have gained along the way. I so
admire you, and hope I can be even half the woman you are! I just turned
35 and sometimes feel as if I'm wasting my life and running out of time
to make a difference; I only need to look to you to see that all
I need to do is get started -- it's never too late! Thank you for all you
do!
I hope you have a wonderful birthday
-- and that you can feel the affection from
the many thousands of us all over the place who
look up to you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you
-- ever so kindly, Ms. Stuber, for every single
one of your efforts. I so appreciate all of them and want for your 75th
birthday and many, many future ones only [harmless... if there is such
a (material) thing] diamonds -- at least diamond-like wishes and hugs and
smiles. An Alsatian verse for you found in a Quaker songbook:
My thoughts are as free
As wind o'er the ocean.
No one can see
Their form or their motion.
No
hunter can find them;
No trap ever bind them.
My lips may be still.
But -- I think what I will!

Many happy returns, Irene.
You have given so much to so many, what could I do
beyond saying a mere seventy-five thank yous? The Hell-raiser I was privileged
to meet ago on delphi.com is the wise-witty woman whose common sense I
admire each day. I see you on the corner with your machine, taking a stand
I had to copy. I hear your counsel affirming my views relative to the divisiveness
of religion which my atheist-humanist-feminist self knows to be correct
and kind and so you! to the nth degree. May you be healthy and feel how
loved you are by this reader. My hand to your shoulder, dear friend. I
send hooray for us that you live and my
thank you for your
work on behalf of all of us.
Happy Birthday Irene!

Dear Irene,
Happy 75th.
I, for one, enjoy your wit and wisdom
on Abigails, Cat's Claws, and WOAH. Thank you for all of your hard work
to keep us informed about our heritage as proud women and the events that
affect us in our crazy world.
I feel very lucky to know you
and be part of this group.
I
don't know how many years we have been talking through email and on lists,
Irene, but I do know that my life has been richer for knowing you all these
years. We met on Prodigy, lost track of each other for a while and then
got back in touch when Varda needed help with a sexist fight we (she and
I) were in on the Classical Music list, and called you in. I think it must
be close to two decades ago that we first allied ourselves with each other
to fight these fights. I wish you decades more of everything good that
you could want. You give so much to so many; the
world is a better place because of you.
Dear Irene,
You bless the Earth with your
presence. My life and
awareness have expanded because of your Internet work. Thank you.
Admiration and wishes
for good health and strength to you
on your 75th.

You
continue to inspire and educate us to go forth and 'enlighten

there that need to be reminded of their greatness.

Thank you so much, Irene. You are
part of every day, a good part; when I find another angry old
woman having at the forces of stupidity and evil with sharp tongue and
mind, I feel pleased as punch, I feel not alone. Thanks.

Whether
living in Washington, D.C.; Lander,Wyoming; or New Orleans I look forward
to your continued information flow on those women who paved the way for
the rest of us. Thank You.
Dear Irene,
I believe it was in 1996, that my
computer savvy son introduced me to Catt's Claws. He knew that your wit
and charm would override my fear of a machine with more than an on/off
switch. I was preparing to attend my first National Convention of the League
of Women Voters and there you were! Saying the words that made sense. Helping
me to articulate so many hopes and dreams. I began thinking that maybe
we could "Finish the Fight' of our foremothers and leave a world worthy
of it's children.
Opening the door of your "Cyber-salon"
to all, has been a true gift. Almost everyday you have given us your TIME!
Happy
Birthday, Irene. Thanks
for educating me in regard to all the women of achievement over the centuries.
Somehow I never realized that there were so many until
you began disseminating all the facts of their accomplishments. Your unique
contribution makes you a true Woman of Achievement!
Happy Birthday Irene.
Don't count the candles, just enjoy the warmth.
